From F1 race cars to 620hp Ferrari's, the most high tech vehicles in the world rely on paddle shifters for finely tuned transmission control. Now you can have the same precision, performance, and jaw-dropping style in your own car, with the new Formula1 Smart Shift system from RetroTek Speed.
The shifter mounts between the hub and the wheel, and is designed for easy fingertip operation without taking your hands off the wheel. The unique design is compatible with any three, five, six or nine bolt steering wheel flange, allowing you to maintain your factory or aftermarket wheel. A quick pull on the paddle is all you need to up shift or down shift. The patent-pending design is rated at over 1-million cycles, and a high power, short range RF transmitter sends signals to the control module, meaning there are no wires to hook up. Billet aluminum construction makes the Forumula1 Smart Shift rugged yet attractive, and polished or anodized finishes are available.
Included with the Formula1 Smart Shift are a backlit billet keypad (for shifting into park, drive, etc), a main controller, and a compact actuator. The waterproof main controller and actuator work with over 20 different automatic transmissions, from basic TH350 and C4 models to modern electronic gearboxes like the 4L60E. The actuator is extremely durable, and shifts are perfectly timed and in-sync with the Trans. All mounting hardware is included, and a simple pan-rail design allows for two-bolt installation. The Formula1 Smart Shift system can also be tied to overdrive units like the Gear Vendors for seamless 6- or 8-speed conversions.
