TPS (Throttle Position Sensor)

The Throttle Position Sensor changes the resistance as the throttle opens and closes. The TPS is used to tell the EMS when the angle of the throttle has changed and the rate or speed at which it is changing. Think of the TPS as an electronic accelerator pump, when you slowly roll into the throttle it adds a small amount of additional fuel into the engine. When you mash the throttle the computer commands a greater amount of fuel to be injected into the engine. This extra fuel is used to feed the additional “burst” of air entering into the engine and allow the engine to accelerate.
